FUJIGAWACHI VALLEY / Saiki City
Fujigawachi Valley in Saiki City, is a beautiful valley located within the Sobo, Katamuki and Okue Biosphere Reserve (also known as Sobokatamukiokue UNESCO Eco Park). It is approximately 8 km long and features a dynamic landscape of granite monoliths that were shaped by water erosion over a long period of time. The landscape features an array of rock pools in various shapes and sizes, whose sculptural beauty reveals the awe–inspiring power of nature. The river is exceptionally clear, and on a sunny day the water flowing over the white rock surface shines with an emerald–green hue, captivating visitors.
The seasonal colours of the scenery are also appealing; tender green in spring, vibrant coloured leaves in autumn and, in winter, in certain circumstances, the 73.5 m Kannon Falls can even freeze over in the extreme cold. The canyon has well–maintained walking trails, suitable for everyone from novices to seasonal hikers, so each can enjoy a stroll at their own pace. Engaging in river activities and canyoning in the pristine waters is also favoured, creating a spot to rejuvenate your mind and body while connecting with nature.
