NAGAYU ONSEN / Taketa City
Nagayu Onsen, located in Naoiri–Town, Taketa City, is a hot spring resort known for its emanating carbon dioxide springs, which are rare in Japan. The springs are classified as carbon dioxide and bicarbonate springs, with names that vary according to their carbon dioxide (CO2) levels. While bathing, small air bubbles cling to the skin and are believed to be effective in promoting blood circulation and alleviating fatigue. The water temperature is pleasantly warm at around 40°C, making it suitable for those who prefer mild heat and enjoy a leisurely soak. The hot spring water is also drinkable and may aid in relieving gastrointestinal issues and constipation.
Taketa City has a sister city relationship with the renowned German spa town Bad Krotzingen, and this is evident in the German cultural influences that can be seen throughout the town, including the drinking fountain and some of the architectural design. The spa town features an array of unique spa facilities, such as the Gozenyu by the Atelier Zo, which incorporates German architectural styles, Lamune Onsen by Terunobu Fujimori, and Kur Park Nagayu by Shigeru Ban, each of which allow visitors to experience in–depth relaxation while enjoying an architectural tour.
